MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Talladega College runner
Emmanuel Niang was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, the SSAC office announced Tuesday. This is his second-career outdoor honor for the junior Harrisburg, Pa.
The awards are based on performance for the week of March 13-19.
Niang won the 110m hurdles in a time of 14.03 at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic on March 18. His time was not only a personal best but a Talladega school record. It is the fastest 100m time in the NAIA so far this season and earns him a trip to the NAIA National Championships in May.
The SSAC Field Athlete of the Week is Nicholas Holley of the University of Mobile.
Niang was previous awarded SSAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week once in 2022 and was the SSAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week once this past winter.
