MARION, Ind. – The NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships wrapped up on Friday, with Talladega sending six athletes to compete over four events. Jaedon Chambers highlighted the trip to the Midwest for the Tornadoes, competing in both the men's 100 and the 4x100 relay.
Chambers qualified for the National Championships with a season-best 10.46 and a third-place finish at the HBCUAC Championships in mid-April. The Talladega junior came up with a time of 10.57 in the 100 on Thursday afternoon, good enough for fifth in his heat, 16th in the nation, and Second Team All-American status.
On the women's side, junior Lamoy Duffus also qualified in the 100 at the conference meet, doing so behind a season-best mark of 10.87. Her mark of 12.33 on Thursday landed her at 26th in the nation.
Freshman Alexis Goodman, earned her way to Nationals after taking home the HBCUAC individual crown in the women's high jump with a distance of 1.66m (5' 5 ¼"). The men's 4x100 relay team was represented by Chambers, Anthony Gentles, Christian Louis and Jason Ivey II, but neither Goodman nor the relay squad were able to come away with a countable mark this week.
