SHREVEPORT, La. – The opening day of the HBCUAC Track and Field Outdoor Championship wrapped up on Friday, with the Talladega men sitting in second place as a team.

Jaylen Haynes led the way for the Tornadoes in the discus, landing in third place after recording a throw of 38.67m (126' 10"). Teammate Danrick Robinson finished in seventh behind a mark of 34.78m (114' 1") as the only other Talladega athlete on the podium.

Joel Wilson turned in a distance of 55.22m (181' 2") in the javelin, good enough for first place in the event and 24th in the nation. Dominic Bruce (41.48m/136' 1") and May (39.01m/128') gave the Tornadoes three of top five individuals in the field, coming in fourth and fifth respectively.

May was also Talladega's top individual in the long jump, as his effort of 6.35m (20' 10") was good enough for seventh place.

On the track, the Talladega 4x800 team of Isaiah Millet, Decquan Nisbett, Jason Ivey II and Anthony Plakaris Jr. came in third place, doing so with a time of 8:52.90.

Jaedon Chambers (21.51, 3rd) and Christian Louis (21.72, 8th) will both represent Talladega in the 200 on Saturday after qualifying in Friday's prelims. Additionally, the men's 100 finals will feature Anthony Gentles (10.45, 2nd), Chambers (10.46, 3rd) and Christian Louis (10.60, 7th).
