Niang, 4x100 Teams Qualify for Nationals at Tiger Track Open

AUBURN, Ala. – Postseason plans were clinched for some members of the Talladega College men's track and field team as Emmanuel Niang took gold in the 110 hurdles and the 4x100 relay team came in first to win events at the Tiger Track Open at Hutsell-Rosen Track. The finishes qualified Niang and the relay squad for the 2023 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
 
Niang's victory in 110-meter hurdles set personal and school records and placed him ahead of several competitors from NCAA Division I opponents.
 
Anthony Gentles, Christian Louis, Jonathan Meadows and Nastario Williams combined for a first-place finish and set a new school record in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.06 seconds which was the third fastest time in NAIA in this event. The win came over both NCAA and NAIA opponents.
 
The group of four also set a school record time of 3:18.61 and posted the second fastest NAIA mark this season in the 4x400 meter relay.
 
In solo events, Williams posted the fastest times among Southern States Athletic Conference competitors in the 100-meters and 200-meters. Williams finished the 100-meter race in 10.70 seconds, which is also 10th in NAIA, and posted a 200-meters time of 21.86 seconds.
