Tornadoes Take Series Over Rust with Dominant Home Performance

Talladega College Baseball delivered another strong weekend performance, winning two of three games in a conference series against Rust College at Silsby Field.

The Tornadoes opened the series on April 3 with a dominant 9-1 victory behind a complete-game effort from Hunter Scott. He scattered five hits over seven innings while allowing just one unearned run. Offensively, Talladega took control early, plating two runs in the second before breaking the game open with three runs in both the third and fourth innings. Eli Payne led the way with a home run and two RBIs, while Victor Rivera added two hits and an RBI. Sebastian Pizarro and Jonathan Williams each drove in a run, and Yoangel Ramos scored three times as Talladega capitalized on patience at the plate with 11 walks.

In game two, Talladega battled back after an early deficit but ultimately fell 12-8. The Tornadoes showed resilience, scoring multiple runs in the first three innings to cut into the lead. Kelvyn Gonzalez paced the offense with two RBIs, while Joshua Catala Santos scored twice and drove in a run. Victor Rivera also added an RBI, and Talladega continued to pressure on the bases with multiple stolen bases throughout the game.

Talladega bounced back in the series finale on April 4 with a commanding 10-1 win. Georgio Emaildi turned in a strong performance on the mound, tossing seven innings and allowing just one unearned run while striking out seven. The Tornadoes jumped out quickly with six runs over the first two innings. Joshua Catala Santos led the offense with three runs scored, a triple, and an RBI, while Sebastian Pizarro drove in two runs. Victor Rivera and Kelvyn Gonzalez each contributed an RBI, and Jonathan Williams added two hits and two runs scored.

Across the weekend, Talladega showcased its depth on the mound and aggressive offensive approach, improving its conference record while continuing to build momentum in HBCUAC play.
