Talladega College's Josie Harshberger has been named HBCU Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week following an outstanding performance during the Tornadoes' conference series against Huston-Tillotson University.

Harshberger delivered a dominant showing at the plate, finishing the series 8-for-11 with four runs scored and five RBI. She set the tone in the series opener, going a perfect 6-for-6 with three doubles, five RBI and four runs scored to help lead the Tornadoes to a 17-10 victory.

Her performance in the opener marked one of the most impressive offensive outings of the season for Talladega, as she consistently produced key hits to keep the Tornado offense rolling.

Harshberger was equally impressive defensively at second base. In the opening game of the series, she successfully handled all 10 defensive chances, recording four putouts and six assists. For the week, she fielded 16 of 17 total opportunities, continuing to provide steady defense for the Tornadoes.

The freshman standout continues to be a key contributor for Talladega as the team moves forward in conference play.
