The Talladega College softball team opened its second HBCUAC conference series of the season with a 17-10 victory before dropping the final two games against Huston-Tillotson at Mabson Field.
The Tornadoes' offense came alive in the series opener, collecting 18 hits. Josie Harshberger led the way with a perfect 6-for-6 performance and five RBIs, while Yasmin Harmon finished with three hits and six RBIs including a three-run home run. Arriana Wilson also added a home run as Talladega pulled away late.
In game two, Sophie Harshberger gave Talladega an early lead with a three-run home run in the second inning, but Huston-Tillotson responded with six runs over the next two innings to secure a 6-4 win.
The Rams built a large early lead in the series finale, but the Tornadoes rallied with an 11-run fourth inning highlighted by a grand slam from Harmon. Despite the comeback effort, Huston-Tillotson held on for the 20-12 victory.
Talladega will return to conference play this weekend as the Tornadoes travel to Louisiana for a three-game HBCUAC series against Dillard University.
