Tornadoes enter final day of HBCUAC T/F Championships in third

SHREVEPORT, La. – The opening day of the HBCUAC Track and Field Outdoor Championship wrapped up on Friday, with the Talladega women sitting in third place as a team with a score of 35.

Alexis Goodman took home second place in the javelin after recording a mark of 27.69m (90' 10") on her third throw of the day. Teammate Netanya-Love Ducksworth came in eighth place behind a distance of 19.26m (63' 2") on just her first attempt.

Ducksworth represented the Tornadoes well as the lone Talladega athlete in the discus, adding a podium finish behind a new personal best throw of 22.94m (75' 3"). Lamoy Duffus highlighted the day for Talladega, setting a new-season best effort in the long jump with a mark of 5.10m (16' 8¾") en route to the event crown.

On the track, Talladega's 4x800 relay squad of Jewel Cross, Tia'monie Jackson, Jade Thompson-Parker and Aliana Taylor teamed up for a time of 12:49.93, good enough for third place in the event. Four Tornadoes (Duffus, Dhenecia Pinnock, Dhae'nia Pinnock, Kishawna Wallace) will make up half the field in both the 200 finals and the 100 finals on Saturday after strong showings in Friday's prelims.
