Talladega College Congratulates Marcos Dominguez on 2025 Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Head Coach of the Year Honor

Talladega College Athletics proudly congratulates Head Baseball Coach Marcos Dominguez on being named the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Head Coach of the Year for the Small College Division (NAIA/DII/DIII) in 2025.

Coach Dominguez's journey at Talladega College is one rooted in loyalty, growth, and sustained excellence. A former Tornado, Dominguez attended Talladega College from 2013–2016 before returning in the fall of 2016 to lead the baseball program. Since that time, he has transformed Talladega baseball into one of the premier small college programs in Alabama and on the national stage.

Under his leadership, the Tornadoes captured the conference championship in 2018 in what was then known as the AII Conference, now the Continental Conference. The program continued its upward trajectory with a conference tournament championship in 2024 and an exceptional 2025 season that included both the regular season and conference championships.

One of the most notable accomplishments of Coach Dominguez's tenure came in 2024 when Talladega College advanced to the championship game of the Black College World Series on the NAIA side, a national achievement that highlighted the growth, competitiveness, and national recognition of the Tornadoes baseball program.

Coach Dominguez's impact extends beyond team success and is reflected in the development of elite student-athletes. Miguel Oropeza, who played three seasons at Talladega College, emerged as one of the most dominant players in the nation under Coach Dominguez's leadership. Oropeza earned Player of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons and, in 2025, was named the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association NAIA/DII/DIII Player of the Year. He also earned NAIA First Team All-American recognition and Small School Player of the Year honors, captured the Triple Crown in the HBCUAC, and played a pivotal role in leading Talladega to another outstanding season.

The 2024 season further highlighted the strength and depth of the Tornadoes program, as Miguel Oropeza and Samuel Guadamuz, who played two seasons at Talladega College, were named Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Division 2/3/NAIA Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, as recognized by degabaseball on Instagram. These accolades reflect the culture of excellence, discipline, and player development fostered by Coach Dominguez.

Being named Head Coach of the Year by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association in 2025 is a well-earned recognition of Coach Dominguez's leadership, vision, and dedication to Talladega College. His commitment to building championship-caliber teams while mentoring young men on and off the field continues to elevate the Tornadoes baseball program and the institution as a whole.

Talladega College Athletics congratulates Coach Marcos Dominguez on this prestigious honor and thanks him for representing Talladega College with pride, integrity, and excellence.
