Talladega College Cross Country Teams Set to Compete in HBCUAC Championships

The Talladega College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will travel this week to compete in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Cross Country Championships on October 17, 2025, at Oakville Indian Mounds Park in Danville, Alabama. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the women's race at 11:00 a.m.

Head Coach Terry Gaitor expressed confidence as both teams prepare for one of the biggest meets of the season. "We're feeling confident and ready to compete," said Coach Gaitor.

The Lady Tornadoes enter the championship with high expectations, competing for first place in the conference. Coach Gaitor believes his women's squad has a strong chance to make history. "The women have a shot at becoming the first cross country team in school history to win a conference championship," he stated.

Talladega is led by standout runner Jewel Cross, who currently holds the top female ranking in the conference. The women's team is also ranked No. 1 in the HBCUAC based on average times, showcasing their consistency and dominance throughout the season.

On the men's side, the Tornadoes have maintained a competitive edge all season long and are aiming for a second-place finish. The team will be led by returning runner Nisbett, who placed sixth overall in last year's conference championship.

With determination and momentum on their side, both the men's and women's teams are prepared to make a strong showing for Talladega College as they chase conference glory this weekend.
