Men’s Cross Country Fifth at HBCUAC Championships, Nisbett Qualifies for Nationals

DECATUR, Ala. – The Talladega College men's cross country team wrapped the year competing in the 2024 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship hosted by Decatur Morgan County Tourism Friday at Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center Course. Decquan Nisbett posted a time good enough to qualify for the NAIA National Championships while the Tornadoes finished fifth as a team.
 
Nisbett finished sixth overall with a time of 30:28.70, behind individual champion Javoun Goldsby who posted a time of 29:09.70
 
Isiah Millet posted a top ten time of 31:05.70 for an eighth-place finish. The Tornadoes were also represented by Anthony Gentles (32.40.20), Jason Ivey II (39:24.40), and Anthony Plakaris, Jr. (40:59.90).
 
Tougaloo College claimed the team championship with a group score of 44. Talladega College finished with a 130-point team score on the way to the fifth-place result.
 
Nisbett now prepares for the 024 NAIA Cross Country Championship taking place on Nov. 11, 2024, in Columbia, Missouri, at the Gans Creek Cross County Course.
