OXFORD, ALA. - The men's and women's track and field teams opened their 2022 outdoor season on Saturday at the Gem of the Hills Classic hosted by Jacksonville State University.
Emmanuel Niang and Nastario Williams had the top performances for the Tornadoes. Emmanuel posted the nation's No. 1 time and school record in 110 hurdles.
Nastario finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.93 which is currently No. 1 in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).
In the field events, freshman Makel Patrick placed second with a leap of 20 feet 5 inches which is currently No. 2 in the SSAC.
Talladega will return to action next Saturday in Montevallo, Alabama at the Falcon Classic hosted by the University of Montevallo.
