MONTEVALLO, ALA - The track and field team delivered stellar performances en route to establishing national championship qualifying standards in two events Saturday at the Falcon Classic hosted by the University of Montevallo.
Emmanuel Niang became the first track and field individual athlete in school history to qualify for the national championship meet. He finished first and lowered his school record with the time of 14.18.
Emmanuel was also the first leg on the second place men's 4x100 relay which included Nastario Williams, Makel Patrick and Jonathan Meadows. The relay time of 41.67 achieved the qualifying standard for the national championship meet.
Nastario Williams ran a personal best in both the 100 and 200 meter dash. His time of 10.76 and 21.83 are both the No. 1 times in the SSAC and top 12 in the country.
Talladega will return to action next Saturday in Atlanta, GA at the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open hosted by Emory University.
