Men's Track & Field Scheduled To Compete At The Outdoor National Championship

GULF SHORES, AL. –  The nationally ranked Dega's men's track & field program will be represented by four athletes in three different events at the 2022 Outdoor Track & Field National Championship in Gulf Shores, Ala. at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium Complex.

The 4x100m relay team of Jonathan Meadows, Emmanuel Niang, Nastario Williams and Makel Patrick will start the competition for the men at 4:10 p.m. with the preliminaries of their event on Wednesday, May 25th. The finals for the event will be on at 2:50 p.m. on Friday, May 27th. The group has the 13th fastest time in the country with their school-record mark of 41.19.

Emmanuel Niang will run the trials of the 110m hurdlers on Thursday, May 27th, at 3:15 p.m. Naing, the 2022 Southern States Athletic Conference 110m hurdles champion and SSAC record holder, has the 5th fastest time in the country going into the event at 14.06. The finals are set for Friday, May 27th.    

The 100m preliminaries will be on the second day, May 26th, starting at 4:40 p.m. with Nastario Williams qualifying with the Southern States Athletic Conference leading time of 10.65. The finals are set for Friday, May 27th, at 5:20 p.m.

"This will be the first time in program history that TC track and field athletes will be competing at the National Championship. These guys are special individuals that represent Dega so well. It's a great time to be a Tornado track and field athlete and it's only going to get better," said first year head coach Ranard Adkison.
