Emmanuel Niang Wins Gold and Breaks Conference Record on final day of the SSAC Track and Field Championships

HATTIESBURG, MISS. – The Dega men's and women's track and field teams concluded their weekend at the SSAC Championships with several impressive performances that included athletes stepping onto the podium at William Carey University in Hattiesburg. 

Emmanuel Niang continued his stellar season, earning gold in the 110m hurdles. Niang's time of 14.14 set a new conference championship record. Niang is now tied for third on the national performance list.

Nastario Williams finished 2nd overall in the 100m dash (10.76) and 2nd in the 200m dash (22.03). He also scored in the javelin (4th) and long jump (6th).

Freshman Jonathan Meadows finished 4th in the 400m hurdles. Meadows was also a leg on the men's 4x100 team which included Emmanuel NiangJaden Akwei and Nastario Williams that finished 3rd (42.26).  

Shanice Battle earned points for the women by placing 8th in the 100m dash (12.95) and 6th in the 200m dash (26.10).

The Dega men scored 56 points to tie for 5th, while the women scored 11 points to take 8th.
