Payne Selected to Coach in Inaugural HBCU All-Star Games; Watts Earns Selection

Talladega College Women's Basketball Head Coach Andre Payne has been selected to serve as a head coach in the inaugural HBCU All-Star Games, scheduled for April 17–18, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas.

Payne's selection highlights his continued impact and leadership within the HBCU and NAIA basketball landscape. His work in developing student-athletes and building a competitive program at Talladega College has earned him recognition as one of the respected coaches in the game.

Joining him on this national stage is Talladega standout Teanna Watts, who has been selected to participate in the HBCU All-Star Game. Watts' selection reflects her performance and contributions throughout the season, giving Talladega representation both on the sidelines and on the court.

The event will also feature a familiar face on the opposing bench, as Kevin Herod, former Talladega College coach and current head coach at Florida Memorial, has been selected to lead the opposing team. The matchup adds a meaningful connection to Talladega's basketball history and further elevates the significance of the event.

The HBCU All-Star Games are designed to showcase top talent from all 23 NAIA HBCU member institutions, providing a national platform to celebrate and elevate student-athletes. In addition to the games, the event will include a college and career fair, step show, and fan engagement activities.

Payne's selection, along with Watts' participation, reinforces Talladega College Athletics' presence on the national stage and highlights the continued growth and recognition of the program.

More details regarding team assignments and event logistics will be announced at a later date
