Talladega College used a dominant second half to defeat Philander Smith College 73-55 Friday afternoon in the Hope Credit HBCU Athletic Conference Tournament.

After trailing 18-13 at the end of the first quarter, Talladega responded with a 22-point second quarter to take a 35-31 lead into halftime. The Tornadoes controlled the second half, outscoring Philander Smith 38-24 over the final two quarters, including a 20-point fourth quarter to secure the win.

Talladega shot 31-of-65 from the field and held a 45-37 advantage on the boards while forcing 21 turnovers.

Teanna Watts led the Tornadoes with 18 points, five rebounds and four steals. Olympia Chaney added 16 points and four assists, while Ceara Myers contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. Kiersten Usher filled the stat sheet with nine rebounds, eight assists and six steals. La'Daja Caldwell chipped in eight points off the bench.

Talladega improves to 16-8 overall and advances in the HBCUAC Tournament.
