Grit and Growth—Talladega Battles but Falls to Sewanee 6–0

Talladega College vs Sewanee

Box Score

The Talladega College men's soccer team hit the road on September 13, 2025, to face the University of the South (Sewanee) in a tough non-conference matchup. Despite the 6–0 final score, the Tornadoes showed determination, resilience, and flashes of promise against a talented opponent.

Sewanee opened the scoring early, finding the back of the net in the sixth minute before adding three more goals before halftime, including a penalty kick. The home side continued to press after the break, adding two additional goals to seal the result. Still, Talladega never stopped competing, continuing to push forward and creating a handful of offensive opportunities that kept Sewanee honest.

Freshman and younger players gained valuable experience in the match, showing composure under pressure and fighting until the final whistle. Goalkeeper Tariq Singh was once again a standout, recording eight saves on the day and showcasing his sharp reflexes to keep the Tornadoes in the game. Offensively, Talladega managed to generate four shots, evidence that the team is growing in confidence and working to find its rhythm in the attacking third.

While the scoreline was difficult, the game provided important lessons for Talladega moving forward. Facing a well-organized NCAA Division III program like Sewanee highlighted areas to strengthen defensively while also building belief that the Tornadoes can create chances against strong opponents. With this experience under their belt, Talladega will look to regroup and push for their breakthrough win as the season continues.
