Talladega grabbed the top spot in the preseason rankings after last year's strong campaign that saw the Tornadoes fight their way to the semifinals of the Continental Athletic Conference Championship. Now, with a stacked lineup returning, expectations are sky-high.

And it's not just about the team ranking—five Tornadoes landed on the Preseason All-HBCUAC Team, more than any other school in the conference:

• Jalen Smeins (Defender): A rock in the back line who's even played in World Cup qualifiers with Anguilla.
