Talladega Uses Balanced Scoring and Late Surge to Defeat Christian Community College, 78–68

Talladega College took control early and never looked back, using a high-energy first half and a balanced offensive attack to secure a 78–68 victory over Christian Community College on Tuesday night inside the Billy C. Hawkins Student Activity Center.

Talladega exploded for 42 points in the opening period, building a 42–34 halftime lead that set the tone for the rest of the game. The Tornadoes knocked down 11 three-pointers and outscored their opponent 26–16 in the paint, showcasing both perimeter toughness and interior efficiency.

Four players scored in double figures, led by Amarion Bowens' 17 points and eight rebounds. Bowens was a force throughout, scoring 10 points in the first half and keeping the scoring pressure on in key moments. Kerrick Rideau powered the perimeter attack with 15 points and three three-pointers, including 10 points after halftime to help close the door late. Jordan Roberson added 10 points, all in the first half, providing a major spark from the perimeter, while Malachi Williams finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks, dominating the paint defensively and altering possessions at the rim.

Jeremiah Turner rounded out the scoring leaders with 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals, delivering one of the most complete performances of the night while going a perfect 8-for-8 at the free-throw line. Talladega also dominated the offensive glass with 13 offensive rebounds, converting multiple second-chance opportunities that kept runs alive and maintained momentum.

Defensively, Talladega forced 12 turnovers and consistently disrupted Christian Community's rhythm with blocks, steals, and ball pressure that shifted the tempo in Talladega's favor. The Tornadoes built their largest lead of the night, 10 points, with under a minute to go, closing out the game with composure and balanced scoring. The win showcased Talladega's efficiency, depth, and defensive toughness, highlighting their growth as a cohesive unit.

Talladega will be back at home on Sunday to take on New Rock Prep, looking to continue their winning momentum in front of their home crowd.
