The Talladega College JV Men's Basketball team earned an impressive 82-62 victory over New Rock Prep on Saturday, putting together a strong second-half performance that lifted them above a tightly contested first half.
Both teams came out trading baskets and matching each other's intensity. The Tornadoes and New Rock Prep battled back and forth, and neither side could pull away as the first half closed with the score tied 36-36.
After regrouping at halftime, the Tornadoes returned to the court with renewed focus and energy. Their defensive pressure sharpened, their ball movement improved, and their overall intensity created the separation they needed to take control of the game.
Trenton Smith led Talladega with 14 points off the bench, while Derrick Rideau also delivered 14 points in a strong bench performance. Amarion Bowens, who logged significant minutes, added 11 points, and Jordan Roberson contributed 12 to complete a balanced scoring attack.
Coach TeeJay praised the team's resilience and second-half response, saying, "We came out in the second half with the energy and toughness we were missing early on. Our guys trusted the process, played together, and competed with pride. This was a complete team win, and we're excited to keep building on it."
With Saturday's victory, the Tornadoes continue to gain momentum as they move forward this season.
