Men’s Soccer Captures 13-0 Victory over Oakwood

Box Score TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Talladega College men's soccer team earned its first victory of the season dominantly with a 13-0 win over the Oakwood University Ambassadors Sunday afternoon.
 
Tavar Lawrence turned in an electric performance with a career-high eight goals on 11 shots. Lawrence set the single-game goals scored record. Lawrence scored four goals twice in 2023 against Oakwood and Wiley University. Roger Viladomiuo had four goals in a 2014 win over Fisk University.
 
Lawrence's eight goals also tied for the third-most for a single game in NAIA history.
 
Saeed Charles, Arthur Menezes, Christopher Syms, Gabriel Burton and Temesgn Tezera all recorded a goal to add to the dominant effort by Talladega College.
 
Dega scored five goals in the opening half before turning the heat up in the second 45 minutes with eight scores in the second period.

The Tornadoes' 22 shots on goal are a program single-game record, while Oakwood tallied a shot in the contest. Dega's 13 goals tied a team record as the Tornadoes posted a 13-0 win over Trinity Bible College in 2012.
 
Talladega moved to 6-0 all-time against Oakwood with four shut-out victories over the Ambassadors.
 
Leonard Richardson spent all 90 minutes in goal and collected a save on the evening.
 
The Talladega College Tornadoes return to action on September 26 at home starting at 4 p.m. against Pensacola Christian College.
