MOBILE, Ala. – Facing the top ranked team in NAIA, the Talladega College men's soccer team fell in Southern States Athletic Conference action 6-0 to the University of Mobile Rams Saturday evening in The Jungle.
With the loss, the Tornadoes fell to 0-3 on the season and open the SSAC slate at 0-1. Mobile improved to 6-0-1 overall with the sixth consecutive victory and 1-0 in conference competition.
Leonard Richardson finished the tough night in the office with 13 saves against 19 shots on goal from the Rams.
As a unit, Talladega finished with five shots.
Guillermo Martinez led Mobile with two goals while Sebastian Jorgge assisted on a pair of goals for the Rams.
The Rams started the 2022 season as the second-ranked team in NAIA and held that spot for the first three weeks of the season until being voted to the top spot in the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll on Sept. 21.
Talladega College will take a one-match break from SSAC competition on Sept. 29 with a matchup against Tougaloo College. The home match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start. The Tornadoes will then return to conference action on Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m. against Faulkner University at home.
