TALLADEGA, Ala. – Talladega (0-8, 0-6 SSAC) took the pitch for a pair of home SSAC matchups on Thursday and Saturday against Life (6-5-2, 4-2-1 SSAC) and Dalton State (4-5-4, 2-2-3 SSAC), with the program looking for its first win this season. Unfortunately, it would not come this weekend, as the games ended in 12-0 and 3-0 losses, respectively.
Life scored early and often on Thursday afternoon, first finding the back of the net in the fourth minute and doing so six times in each half out of 22 total shots on goal. Only two of Life's starters, Anakah Madril and Rebecca Noren, scored points, as 13 Running Eagle reserves saw the
field to just three reserves for the Tornadoes. Two Running Eagles, Madril and Thora Hreggvidsdotti, tallied hat tricks and Justine Kuiper registered a brace, with one of her scores coming via a penalty kick. Agnes Birta Stefansd assisted three goals and Cayman Sweet and Amy Hunt each had two assists.
Nicole Montoute attempted all three of Talladega's shots.
Kimberly Rigsby and Tiffany Hulsey split time in the box, with each of them collecting five saves.
The Tornadoes found more success against Dalton State on Saturday afternoon, but could not overcome allowing 11 shots on goal, though Hulsey stopped eight of them. Brooklynn Talton was responsible for her team's three total shots. Her shot on goal in the fifth minute was stopped by keeper Brooke Alvarez, and that was the closest the Tornadoes would come in this one.
Nicole Perez responded immediately, putting the Roadrunners on the board just two seconds into the sixth minute off the assist from Ava Vandoren on her team's first shot attempt of the game.
The 1-0 margin would stand through halftime before reserve Leticia Coronel buried both of her shot attempts in the 64th and 71st minutes off corner kicks. Kylie Pritchett assisted both goals after taking both corners. Perez, Vandoren, Coronel and Pritchett each had two shots on goal.
Without a chance at the conference tournament, Talladega stays home for its final contest of the 2022 season against SSAC regular season champion and national No. 5 William Carey on October 27 at 2 p.m.
