Talladega College hires D'Maria Matthews as the new Head Softball Coach for the Tornadoes softball program.
A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Matthews brings valuable NCAA Division I coaching experience and a strong background in player development, recruiting, and program leadership. Most recently, she served as Interim Head Coach at Grambling State University after spending three seasons as an assistant coach with the Lady Tigers.
During her tenure at Grambling State, Matthews played an instrumental role in the development of numerous student-athletes, helping guide multiple All-Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) performers. Her impact on the program included mentoring the 2025 SWAC Player of the Year and the 2023 SWAC Newcomer of the Year, while contributing to the team's overall growth and competitive success.
Matthews is recognized for her commitment to student-athlete development both on and off the field, emphasizing academic excellence, leadership, accountability, and competitive achievement.

"I look forward to building strong relationships with our student-athletes, competing at a high level, and creating a championship culture that makes the college and community proud."

Her leadership will help guide Talladega College Softball into an exciting new era while continuing the department's commitment to developing champions in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.
