Talladega College earned a road doubleheader sweep over Mobile on March 31, using late-game execution in the opener and an offensive explosion in game two.
In game one, Talladega rallied for a 4-3 victory behind timely hitting and strong relief pitching. After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Tornadoes responded with a three-run third. Armando Jackson got Talladega on the board with an RBI single, followed by Diego Duque driving in the tying run. Miguel Rubio added a sacrifice fly to give Talladega a 3-2 lead.
Mobile tied the game in the fourth, but Talladega stayed composed and delivered in the final inning. In the ninth, Sebastian Pizarro came through with a clutch RBI double to score Rubio and secure the win.
On the mound, Dewinel Vazquez Oquendo provided 3.2 scoreless innings in relief to stabilize the game, and Duque closed it out to earn the win.
Talladega carried that momentum into game two, dominating in an 11-3 victory. The Tornadoes broke the game open early with a five-run second inning, highlighted by Victor Rivera's three-run double. Miguel Rubio and Jonathan Williams also delivered RBI hits during the inning to set the tone.
Talladega continued to apply pressure throughout the game, adding a run in the fifth before putting the game away with a five-run seventh inning. Diego Duque drove in two runs, Yoangel Ramos added a two-run double, and Williams and Pizarro each contributed RBIs in the inning.
Luis Perdomo earned the win on the mound, allowing just one earned run over six innings while striking out five. Jean Quezada closed out the game in relief.
Offensively, Talladega totaled 16 runs across the doubleheader, with key contributions from Duque, Rubio, Rivera, Ramos, Williams, and Pizarro.
With the sweep, Talladega improved to 19-13 on the season.
