The Tornadoes are coming into 2025 with big expectations and even bigger ambitions. After a strong showing last season, the Talladega College women's soccer team has been voted the preseason favorite to win the HBCUAC title — and they did it in convincing fashion, sweeping all six first-place votes from the league's head coaches.
At the center of the spotlight is forward
Annalisa Vincent, who was named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Vincent earned the honor with four of six votes after a breakout 2024 campaign where she found the back of the net 11 times, added three assists, and secured All-CAC First Team recognition. Her ability to change games with one strike makes her one of the most feared attackers in the league.
But Vincent isn't the only Tornado making waves. Defender
Reba Stott, a tireless presence who rarely left the field last season, earned a spot after leading the team in minutes and locking down the back line. Joining her on defense is
Gabrielle Bryan, the vocal leader who organizes and steadies the Tornadoes' shape from the back.
On the attacking side, forward Cycoiah Whatley gives Talladega another dangerous option. She scored seven goals last year and finished second on the team with 15 points. In the midfield,
Faith Alexander brings a promising young presence. The RRAC All-Freshman Team selection showed flashes of creativity and control in her first year, recording five shots and putting two on frame.
With Vincent leading the charge, Stott and Bryan holding things down defensively, and Whatley and Alexander providing depth and balance, the Tornadoes aren't just the preseason favorites — they look every bit the part of a team ready to chase a championship.
The 2025 season is shaping up to be an exciting one in Talladega. And if the preseason buzz is any indication, Tornadoes fans should buckle up for something special.
