Tornadoes Split HBCUAC Weekend: Talladega Defeats Oakwood, Falls to Fisk

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Talladega College volleyball team turned in a strong weekend of conference play, earning a 3–1 road victory over Oakwood University on Friday before falling to Fisk University on Saturday. The Tornadoes' performance showcased resilience, depth, and steady improvement in HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) competition.

Talladega opened the weekend with an impressive showing against Oakwood, taking the match in four sets. After winning a close opening frame, the Tornadoes maintained control with a balanced offensive attack and solid defense. Their serving runs and quick transitions kept Oakwood off balance throughout the match, allowing Talladega to secure its second conference win of the season.

On Saturday, the Tornadoes traveled to Nashville to face Fisk University. Despite a strong effort, Talladega dropped the match after several hard-fought sets. The Tornadoes continued to battle defensively and showed composure under pressure but were unable to overcome Fisk's late-set surges.

The weekend split highlights Talladega's progress as they continue to build momentum in HBCUAC play. With just three matches left this season, the Tornadoes will face a doubleheader against Rust College on October 24 before closing the regular season at home against Wilberforce University on November 1.
