Martin Joins Talladega College Athletics Administration

TALLADEGA, Ala. - With more than a decade of experience in athletic administration, Loretta Martin has joined the Talladega College Athletic Department as assistant athletic director for business operations and game management, announced Vice President of Athletics Michael Grant.

Martin comes to Talladega from Xavier University in New Orleans, where she was the assistant athletic director for game day management prior to Xavier. An accomplished basketball player from Kenner, Louisiana, Martin spent 13 years at Dillard University as a student-athlete and coach. After earning her bachelor's degree in educational studies, she began her coaching career under then head women's basketball coach Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes, currently commissioner of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. She went on to become Dillard's associate head women's basketball coach, helping the Blue Devils to nearly 120 wins, including a pair of 20-win seasons and back-to-back GCAC regular season championships and NAIA National Tournament appearances in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

During her coaching tenure, 24 student-athletes received GCAC All-Conference honors and eight were selected to NAIA All-America teams.

Martin also coached the Blue Devils volleyball program as an assistant coach before taking the 2019 team to the GCAC championship match as interim head coach. Martin's success in athletics dates back to her time as a student-athlete at Bonnabel High School, where she guided the Lady Bruins to a pair of Louisiana Class 5A state championship games before helping Copiah Lincoln Community College to two Region 23 championships.
