Tornadoes Blanked on the Road in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – The final road Southern States Athletic Conference series did not get off to a promising start for the Talladega baseball team. The University of Mobile Rams defeated the Tornadoes 10-0 Friday night in seven innings at Mike Jacobs Field. It was just the third time Dega had been shut out this season.
 
After a scoreless first, the Rams (29-9, 14-5 SSAC) poured on four runs in the second inning with RBIs from Jackson Breal, Sam Bowman, Landon Moore and Tucker Musgrove.
 
In the bottom of the third, Breal added an RBI single to third base, and J.T. Lastorka later stole home to build up a 6-0 lead.
 
The Rams added a run a piece in the fourth and fifth before pushing two more scores across in the seventh, capped by a bases-loaded RBI walk for Sean Mason to seal a 10-0 win for Mobile.
 
Jesuette Dominguez, Wander Arias and Jose Santiago finished 1-for-3 in the game. Juan Gonzalez drew a walk while Jahir Cruz stole a base.
 
Jose Franco (5-3) pitched four innings in the loss with a pair of strikeouts and allowed 11 hits, five earned runs and a walk. Niklas Weldon posted three strikeouts with three hits, three walks, and three earned runs surrendered.
 
Kyle White pitched all seven innings for Mobile with four strikeouts, three hits allowed, and a walk.
 
Talladega College (22-16-1, 12-6 SSAC) and Mobile meet for a doubleheader tomorrow at 1 p.m.
