TALLADEGA, Ala. – It was a back-and-forth battle in the Dr. Hawkins Student Activity Center, but in the end the Middle Georgia State College Knights defeated the Talladega College volleyball team in five sets in a Tuesday night Southern States Athletic Conference midweek contest.
The fourth consecutive loss dropped the Tornadoes to 8-10 overall and 2-7 in the SSAC while MGA moved to 4-8 on the season and 2-7 in conference play.
Talladega won the first set, 25-20, and the third, 26-24, while Middle Georgia took the second set, 26-24, the fourth, 25-21, and the final game, 15-10, to claim victory in the battle. The match was tied at various points 41 times and featured 19 lead changes.
Kenya Glenn led the back row with 13 digs while
Josephine Gates finished strong at the net with three solo blocks and two block assists.
Tianah Sanders added two solo blocks and two block assists while adding nine kills on the offensive attack.
Courtney Williamson posted 13 kills to lead the Knights while Allison Carter posted a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs.
The Tornadoes will travel to face Life University in Marietta, Georgia on Oct. 8 at noon in SSAC action in the Upper Gym. Fans will have the ability to watch the contest (
