Marcos Dominguez

Entering his ninth year as head baseball coach at Talladega College, Marcos Dominguez, originally from the Dominican Republic, is an accomplished baseball coach known for his strong leadership, dedication to player development, and remarkable success in collegiate baseball. Currently serving as the head coach, Dominguez has established a winning tradition and a culture of excellence, both on and off the field. 

Dominguez's baseball journey began as a player at Ranger College beginning in 2011 and ending in 2013 before continuing his education and playing career at Talladega College until 2015. He graduated in 2016 from Talladega College with a degree in Business Management and went on to earn an MBA in Accounting in 2024, also from Talladega College.

His coaching career started in the 2016 season, where he served as a student assistant coach, gaining valuable experience and insight. In 2017, Dominguez stepped into his first role as head coach, quickly making a mark on the program.

Under his guidance, his team reached new heights, including winning the 2024 Black College World Series NAIA Championship. That same year, his squad claimed the Conference Tournament Championship (GCAC) and finished as the Runner-up in the Regular Season Conference (GCAC). These accomplishments earned him the prestigious honor of being named 2024 Black College Nine Coach of the Year. Dominguez has consistently led his teams to success, including four NAIA National Opening Round appearances (2017, 2028, 2029, and 2024).

In addition to his success in competition, Dominguez holds the record for the most wins in a single season at his school, with an impressive 40 victories. His leadership extends beyond the field as he prioritizes the academic achievements of his players, graduating 90% of eligible students.

Dominguez is known for his player-centered coaching approach, fostering both athletic and personal growth. His commitment to his athletes’ futures is evident in his active involvement in their academic and professional success, frequently writing letters of recommendation to support their further education and careers.

Outside of coaching, Marcos Dominguez lives in Talladega with his wife, Tali Dominguez, and their 3-year-old son, Ricardo Dominguez. With over a decade of coaching experience, Dominguez has built a program that values hard work, discipline, and integrity, while consistently competing at the highest levels of collegiate baseball.
