Talladega College's spirit programs continue to grow and thrive under the leadership of Head Acrobatics & Tumbling, Cheer, and Dance Coach Emily Hight. Now entering her fourth year with the institution, Hight has become a driving force behind the development of student-athletes, the expansion of opportunities within the programs, and the pursuit of competitive excellence.
With more than two decades of coaching experience in All-Star cheerleading, Hight arrived at Talladega College with a proven track record of success. Throughout her career, she has guided athletes and teams to numerous National Championship titles across Levels 1 through 5 at some of the nation's premier competitions, including Cheersport Nationals, NCA Nationals, and American Cheer Power Nationals. Her extensive background in athlete development, program building, and championship-level competition has helped elevate Talladega's spirit programs to new levels of success.
One of the most significant achievements during Hight's tenure came in 2026 when the Talladega College Cheer Program captured the HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Traditional Cheer Championship. The historic title marked a major milestone for the program and reflected the culture of excellence, discipline, and teamwork that Hight has worked diligently to establish.
Beyond competitive success, Hight has been instrumental in expanding participation opportunities through the continued growth of Talladega's Cheer, Dance, and Acrobatics & Tumbling programs. Her commitment to creating a positive and challenging environment has allowed student-athletes to develop not only their athletic abilities but also their leadership skills and personal confidence.
A graduate of the University of West Georgia, Hight earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sport Management with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletics. Her educational background, combined with decades of coaching experience, provides a strong foundation for mentoring student-athletes both on and off the competition floor.
Hight's coaching philosophy extends far beyond competition. She places a strong emphasis on academic achievement, accountability, leadership, character development, and service. Her goal is to prepare student-athletes for lifelong success by helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to excel in their careers and communities.
In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Hight serves as advisor for the Immaculate Iota Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. In this role, she mentors young women while supporting leadership development, scholarship, and community engagement initiatives.
