Talladega Sweeps Wilberforce in Dominant Conference Road Series

Talladega College Baseball delivered a commanding performance over the weekend, completing a three-game HBCUAC series sweep against Wilberforce University. The Tornadoes showcased explosive offense, timely hitting, and strong pitching to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Game 1: Talladega 15, Wilberforce 5

Talladega's offense came alive late, breaking open a tight contest with 12 runs over the final three innings.

After trailing 5-3 in the fourth, the Tornadoes flipped the momentum in the fifth inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Armando Jackson that gave Talladega a 9-5 lead they would not relinquish. The seventh inning sealed the game, as Victor Rivera and Sebastian Pizarro each homered, with Pizarro driving in four runs.

Jackson finished with four RBIs, while Pizarro also added four RBIs. Jonathan Williams scored three runs, and Eli Payne collected three hits.

On the mound, Diego Duque earned the win, while Dewinel Vazquez Oquendo shut the door with three scoreless innings in relief.

Game 2: Talladega 3, Wilberforce 2

The second game was a tightly contested battle, with Talladega relying on pitching and execution.

Luis Perdomo delivered a complete-game performance, allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out five.

Offensively, Yoangel Ramos led the way, going 3-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored, including the go-ahead homer in the sixth inning. RBI singles from Yederick Velazquez and Eli Payne helped keep the Tornadoes in control.

Talladega's defense also played a key role, turning multiple double plays to preserve the one-run victory.

Game 3: Talladega 15, Wilberforce 5

Talladega capped off the sweep with another offensive explosion, tallying 15 runs on 15 hits

The Tornadoes struck early and never looked back, highlighted by a three-run home run from Armando Jackson in the third inning. Jackson finished with four RBIs, while Joshua Catala Santos set the tone at the top of the lineup with three hits and three runs scored.

Talladega added insurance runs throughout the game, including a five-run eighth inning fueled by extra-base hits from Kai Tubbs and Hunter Scott.

On the mound, a strong bullpen effort led by Fernando Crisostomo, who earned the win, kept Wilberforce in check down the stretch.
