WOODSTOCK, Ga. — The Talladega College Track and Field team traveled to Life University on Sunday to compete in the 4th Annual Super Bowl Invite, where they achieved significant personal bests and set new school records.
The Tornadoes recorded four personal best marks during the meet, highlighted by two new school records in the women's 60-meter dash and men's shot put.
Lamoy Duffus** led the day, winning the long jump with a distance of 5.03 meters. He also claimed first place in the 60-meter dash, setting a new school record with a time of 7.73 seconds, breaking the previous record of 7.82 seconds held by Wayonna Brookwells.
Jaedon Chambers finished third in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.94 seconds. He also placed third in the 200 meters, narrowly missing the national B standard by just 0.06 seconds.
Danrick Robinson achieved a personal best in the shot put, placing sixth with a throw of 14.11 meters, which also set a new school record.
Dhanecia Pinnock clocked a personal best of 8.06 seconds in the 60-meter dash, finishing fifth.
Eusebio Hernandez placed ninth in the shot put with a personal best throw of 13.40 meters.
The Tornadoes will return to competition on February 15, 2025, at the Samford Open in Birmingham.
Head Track and Field Coach Terry Gaitor expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "I couldn't be more pleased with the meet outcome. We practice and focus on executing our races."
Assistant Track and Field Coach Eddie Adderley praised his team's enthusiasm, saying, "My guys came into this meet eager to execute everything we had worked on in practice. We competed well and showed out this weekend! We're improving day by day as we prepare for the outdoor conference championships. Their eagerness and optimism are contagious, and I love it!"
