Talladega College Women’s Basketball Wins Inaugural History Meets Hardwood Classic

Talladega College Women's Basketball delivered a dominant all-around performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Stillman College 81–64 to claim the inaugural History Meets Hardwood Classic inside the Billy Hawkins Student Center.

Talladega controlled the matchup from start to finish, winning every quarter and showcasing a balanced offensive attack, disruptive defense, and overwhelming presence on the glass. The Lady Tornadoes opened the first quarter with sharp ball movement and early defensive pressure, taking a 16–13 lead. Momentum grew in the second quarter as Talladega outscored Stillman 20–19, powered by a surge from Ceara Myers, who attacked the paint relentlessly and anchored the team on the boards.

Myers finished with a game-high 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks, providing the steady interior presence Talladega rode throughout the afternoon. She went 7-of-9 at the free-throw line and continually generated second-chance opportunities, contributing to the team's 22 offensive rebounds.

The guard play was equally strong, with Kameron Jones, Courtney Lowe, and Teanna Watts combining for 43 points. Jones filled the stat sheet with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Lowe knocked down three three-pointers and finished with 14 points. Watts delivered a huge fourth quarter, scoring 10 of her 14 points in the final period to help Talladega pull away for good. Talladega's defensive pressure also proved overwhelming as the team forced 27 Stillman turnovers, resulting in 19 points off those mistakes.

Jumior guard Kiersten Usher had one of the most impactful defensive performances of the game, recording 6 steals, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Her energy on the perimeter fueled multiple scoring runs, and her ability to finish plays late helped Talladega stretch its lead to as many as 17 points.

Leading 55–50 heading into the final quarter, Talladega unleashed its strongest frame of the night, outscoring Stillman 26–14. The Lady Tornadoes shot with confidence, dominated the boards, and controlled the pace until the final buzzer. Talladega finished the game shooting 41.9 percent from the field and added 42 points in the paint, asserting its physicality throughout the contest.

With the 81–64 victory, Talladega College secured the first-ever History Meets Hardwood Classic championship. The performance highlighted the team's depth, resilience, and growing chemistry as they continue to build momentum this season.
