Talladega College battled wire to wire on Saturday afternoon but came up just short in a 62–61 contest inside the Billy Hawkins Student Center.
The Tornadoes opened the game with strong energy, surging to a 12-point lead midway through the first half. Talladega's offense clicked early behind the hot hand of Derek Burditt, who knocked down two early threes and helped the Tornadoes take a 34–31 lead into halftime. Arthur Williams also provided a spark with 10 first-half points, including a pair of threes.
In the second half, Talladega continued to compete on both ends, with Shaun Walker powering his way to 13 points and four rebounds. Burditt added 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in a well-rounded performance, while Williams finished with 12 points and five boards. Tre Simmons chipped in eight points, and Ethan Smith contributed five rebounds and a key first-half basket.
Talladega won the rebounding battle 42–37 and connected on eight three-pointers, but cold shooting in the final minutes allowed the visitors to edge ahead late.
The Tornadoes will look to bounce back quickly as they return to action tomorrow at home against Morris College.
