DENMARK, S.C. (January 18, 2025) — The Talladega College women's basketball team continued its strong season with a commanding 59-43 victory over the Voorhees University Lady Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Leading the charge for the Lady Tornadoes (11-5) was
Kameron Jones, who delivered an impressive performance with 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Jones shot 6-of-12 from the field and went 7-of-8 from the free-throw line, showcasing her ability to penetrate the defense and convert at the charity stripe.
DeJaria Lewis also made her mark, contributing six points and a game-high nine rebounds, helping the Tornadoes dominate the boards with a total of 40 rebounds compared to Voorhees' 26. Lewis's presence was vital, especially on the defensive end, where she frequently disrupted the Lady Tigers' offensive flow.

Ceara Myers and
Kendallyn McCoy each adding 11 points. Myers was particularly efficient, hitting 4-of-9 from the field, while McCoy provided solid support off the bench, scoring all of her points in just 19 minutes of play.
The game began with a slow start for both teams, but Talladega found its rhythm in the second half, outscoring Voorhees 19-13 in the third quarter and 16-10 in the fourth. The Lady Tornadoes took control of the game with a strong defensive display, forcing 27 turnovers and converting those into 24 points off turnovers.
Voorhees (6-10) struggled offensively, with Nedisha Ford leading the team with eight points, while Ty'Shemia Bunkley added seven. The Lady Tigers shot only 36.6% from the field and a dismal 26.7% from beyond the arc.
