TALLADEGA, Ala. — Fisk University (7-13, 7-6) secured a narrow victory over Talladega College (7-7, 7-5) on January 23, 2025, at the Billy Hawkins Student Activity Center, winning 53-46.
The game started with a tight first quarter, where Talladega led 10-8. Fisk rallied in the second quarter, outscoring Talladega 17-12 to take a 25-22 lead at halftime.
Fisk maintained its advantage in the third quarter, adding 16 points to Talladega's 12, bringing the score to 41-34. In the fourth quarter, both teams scored 12 points, but Fisk held on to secure the win.
Jayla Bibbs led Fisk with 15 points, shooting 6-of-15 from the field. Keeli Burton-Oliver contributed 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Courtney Lumpkins added nine points along with five assists.
Kameron Jones was the standout for Talladega, scoring 18 points and collecting 10 rebounds.
DeJaria Lewis added nine points and six rebounds, while
Kendallyn McCoy struggled with just two points on 1-of-9 shooting.
Fisk shot 35.4% from the field, while Talladega managed just 27.6%. The game featured 17 turnovers by each team and was marked by physical play, resulting in numerous fouls.
The victory moved Fisk closer in the conference standings, and the team looks to build on this momentum in their upcoming games.
The Lady Tornadoes look to bounce back on Saturday, January 25, at home against the Rust Lady Bearcats.
