DENMARK, S.C. — The Talladega College Tornadoes secured a hard-fought 53-46 victory over the Voorhees University Tigers in a road game Saturday afternoon, January 18. The win improved Talladega's record as they continue to build momentum in the season.

The Tornadoes trailed by two at halftime, with the score standing at 23-21 in favor of Voorhees. However, a strong second-half performance propelled Talladega to victory. The Tornadoes outscored the Tigers 32-23 in the final period.

Shaun Walker led Talladega with a standout performance, scoring 18 points while shooting 7-of-9 from the field and grabbing seven rebounds. Lamont Sams contributed significantly as well, adding seven points and six rebounds, while also dishing out four assists.

Derek Burditt and Wilfred Campbell also made notable contributions, with Burditt scoring seven points and Campbell adding 13 points, including three 3-pointers. The Tornadoes shot 41.9 percent from the field overall and converted 59.1 percent of their free throw attempts.

Voorhees was led by Omari Bryson, who scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds. Keyshaun Fleetion and Daethan Harris also contributed with eight points each, but it was not enough to overcome Talladega's strong second half.

The Tornadoes capitalized on their bench depth, outscoring the Tigers 19-12 in bench points, and also turned 15 turnovers by Voorhees into 15 points on the other end.

Talladega College will look to continue their winning ways as they prepare for their next matchup on at home Thursday, January 23, against the Fisk Bulldogs
