Talladega College Women’s Basketball Falls to Stillman College, 79-50

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (January 14, 2025) — The Talladega College Lady Tornadoes faced a tough challenge on the road, suffering a 79-50 loss to the Stillman College Lady Tigers in a HBCUAC matchup.

The Lady Tornadoes struggled to find their rhythm, finishing the game with a shooting percentage of just 40.7%. They were unable to recover after a slow start, trailing 28-13 at the end of the first quarter. Talladega's offensive woes continued, as they scored only 12 points in the second quarter, leaving them down 44-25 at halftime.

Despite the challenging outing, several Lady Tornadoes stood out. DeJaria Lewis led the team with 14 points, shooting 6-for-8 from the field, and added five rebounds. Cedra Myers matched her scoring output, also contributing 14 points while grabbing five rebounds. Beautiful Curry rounded out the trio of top performers with seven points, eight assists, and one steal, demonstrating her playmaking ability despite the team's struggles.

The second half saw the Lady Tornadoes show some resilience, outscoring Stillman 17-14 in the fourth quarter. However, it was not enough to close the significant gap created in the earlier periods.

On the other side of the court, Stillman College showcased a dominant performance, led by Jaida Minter, who scored 17 points and grabbed two rebounds. The Lady Tigers shot an impressive 54.9% from the field, including 54.2% from beyond the arc, which proved to be a crucial factor in their victory.

Talladega College will look to bounce back in their next game on the road as they take on the Voorhees College (S.C.) Lady Tigers on Saturday, January 18.
