Talladega Edges Out Stillman in Nail-Biting 63-61 Victory

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (January 14, 2025) — The Talladega College Tornadoes secured a thrilling 63-61 victory over the Stillman College Tigers on January 14, 2025, at Birthright Hall, thanks to a strong second-half performance.

Leading the charge for the Tornadoes was junior guard Shaun Walker, who delivered an impressive performance with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists. Walker's dominant play in the paint was pivotal in keeping Talladega ahead during crucial moments of the game.

Also contributing significantly was Lamont Sams, who added 14 points and 4 assists while showcasing his ability to penetrate the Tigers' defense. Arthur Williams played a key role as well, scoring 11 points and providing three assists, helping to facilitate the Tornadoes' offensive rhythm.

The first half saw both teams locked in a defensive battle, ending in a 28-28 tie. However, Talladega surged in the second half, outscoring Stillman 35-33, with Walker leading the way. The Tornadoes built a 14-point lead midway through the second period, but the Tigers fought back, narrowing the gap to just two points in the final seconds.

Despite Stillman's late surge, including a last-second three-pointer by Jeremiah Miller that fell short, the Tornadoes held on for the victory. Talladega's defense proved resilient, particularly in the closing moments, as they secured key rebounds and forced turnovers.

With this win, the Tornadoes improved their record to 12-7 overall and 6-5 in conference play, while Stillman fell to 10-8, 8-3 in the same conference. Talladega will look to maintain their momentum in their next match-up.
