Men’s Soccer Cruises to 9-0 Victory over USSA

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Led by five goals from Tavar Lawrence, the Talladega College men's soccer team handled business in a 9-0 win over the United States Sports Academy Eagles on Saturday afternoon.
 
Lawrence scored early and often, with the first goal of the match in the 9th minute, thanks to an assist from Jose Attong. The talented forward added goals for the Tornadoes in the 21st, 44th, 51st, and 53rd minutes. He finished with 10 shots, seven shots on goal, five goals, and an assist.
 
Tyrike Andrews found the back of the net in the 13th, while Saeed Charles scored in the 29th with an assist from Lawrence.
 
Following three consecutive Lawrence goals, Malachi Daniel found the back of the net in the 64th, and Christopher Syms wrapped up scoring in the 70th with a solo goal to reach the 9-0 final tally.
 
The Tornadoes outshot USSA  22-5 and registered 14 shots on goal while limiting the Eagles to just three SOGs.
 
Leonard Richardson earned the win in the goal with three saves to earn the shutout win for Talladega.
 
The win marks the third consecutive contest in which the Tornadoes have not surrendered a score. Dega earned a 13-0 victory over Oakwood on September 15 and tied 0-0 with Pensacola Christian on Thursday. Men's soccer posted a four-game shutout streak back in 2012.
 
Talladega College returns to action Thursday, Oct. 3, against Florida College at 3 p.m. in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
