Women’s Soccer Spurned by Second Half Jax State Surge

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Talladega College women's soccer team ran out of steam as the NCAA Division I Jax State Gamecocks scored five second-half goals on the way to a 6-0 victory over the Tornadoes Sunday evening at the Jax State Soccer Complex.
 
Both teams were quiet offensively until the 35th minute when Nancy Almanza scored her first of two goals on the night with an assist from Nanaka Inaba to put the team up 1-0 going into the break.
 
Inaba came back with a goal in the 48th, this time off an assist from Tori Paul. Melissa Kuya-Strobel scored in the 60th minute to give JSU a 3-0 lead.
 
The Gamecocks pouted it on with a goal from Tori Paul in the 78th minute and two scores in the 79th minute, one from Naroa Domenech and another from Paul to reach the 6-0 final.
 
Shamya Daniels and Cycoiah Wattley finished with a shot on goal, while Annalisa Vincent also posted a shot.
 
Natalie Need battled in the net and finished with seven saves while facing 29 total shots and 14 shots on goal from Jax State.
 
Talladega College returns to action Saturday and hosts NCAA Division II opponent Spring Hill College starting at 4 p.m.
