Men’s Soccer Ties Georgetown in Season Opener

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Talladega College men's soccer team only trailed for a short while before a score forced a 2-2 tie over the visiting Georgetown (Ky.) College Tigers Wednesday evening.
 
Saeed Charles banged in the goal unassisted at the 67:49 mark to tie the game just 30 seconds after Mohammed Mouzoune gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead off an assist from Pedro Canal.
 
Tavar Lawerence scored the Tornadoes' first goal of the season at 22:55 with an assist from Gabriel Burton to put the team up 1-0. Dega held the lead through the break.
 
Georgetown College scored the first of two straight goals with a shot from Islam Houssni, assisted by Mouzoune, to tie the match 1-1 at the 54:02 mark.
 
Talladega outshot the Tigers 17-14 and posted eight shots on goal compared to five SOGs by Georgetown.
 
Lawerence led the way with five total shots and three SOGs, while Charles followed by posting three shots with one on goal. Jose Attong finished with two SOGs.
 
Ivory Smith turned away three shots and allowed a pair of goals in the tie.
 
The Talladega College Tornadoes return to action tomorrow in West Point, Georgia against the Point University Skyhawks at 6:30 p.m.
