CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Talladega College men's volleyball team fell 3-0 (17-25, 23-25, 20-25) to Truett McConnell University this evening. Talladega is now 3-16 on the season with the Bears improving to 5-10.
Talladega jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the opening set, but the Bears worked their way back into it to trail, 4-3. The Tornadoes were able to push its lead to 7-5 before TMU tallied three straight points to go in front, 8-7. Talladega used a 5-2 run to go up 12-10 and after that pushed its lead to, 16-15. The Bears then responded with a 10-1 run to take the set, 25-17.
Both teams went back and forth where they either were tied or up by a point for most of the set. Tied at 18, the Bears used a 4-1 run to go up 22-19 but the Tornadoes responded with three points to tie the set at 22. Each team ended up tied at 23 before back-to-back kills secured the 25-23 win for TMU.
Trailing 6-3 in the third set, Talladega went on a 6-0 run to go up, 9-6. TMU tied the set at nine but the Tornadoes reclaimed the lead 11-9 before both teams ended up tied six different times in the set. Tied at 20, the Bears used a 5-0 run to win the set 25-20 and the match, 3-0.
Malik Foreman led Talladega in kills with seven while adding seven digs of his own. Teammate
Elijah Foster registered 25 assists, five digs, and two kills.
Andrea Tognazzo finished 22 digs and two assists of his own.
Talladega is back in action on Friday, March 8 at 6 pm when it hosts Emmanuel University.
