Men's Volleyball Falls to Emmanuel

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Talladega College men's volleyball team fell 3-0 (23-25, 17-25, 17-25) to visiting Emmanuel University tonight. The Tornadoes fell to 3-17 on the season while the Lions are now 6-14 on the year.

Talladega leaped to an early 4-0 lead in the opening set and then were able to push the lead to, 9-4. The Lions answered as they used a 6-1 run to tie the set at 10 then took their first lead off a kill to make it 11-10. Both teams went back and forth for most of the set but the Tornadoes found themselves in front, 17-16.  Emmanuel put together a 5-2 run to take a 21-19 lead and after that were able to go on to a 25-23 victory to take the set.

The Lions took a 4-1 lead in set two, but Talladega tallied back-to-back points to make it a one-point difference. For the second straight set, both teams went back and forth to find themselves knotted at eight apiece. Emmanuel broke the set open as it took a 16-11 lead off an 8-3 run and then went on to win 25-17 and go up 2-0 in the match.

Talladega looked to force a fourth set but the Lions had other plans as they took a 6-3 lead in set three. The Tornadoes used an 8-2 run to go in front 11-8 for its first lead of the set. The Lions responded as they used a 9-2 run to retake the lead at 17-13 before closing the set out on an 8-4 run to win 25-17 and take the match, 3-0.

Ty'Sean Wallace and Mallik Foreman each finished with eight kills for Talladega. Wallace hit .800 for the match.

Teammate Elijah Foster tallied with a team-high 21 assists.

Talladega is back in action on Saturday, March 16 with it travels to King University in Tennessee for a 2 p.m. match.
