Men's Volleyball Drops Match to Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Talladega College men's volleyball team fell on the road tonight 3-0 (10-25, 21-25, 17-25) to Emmanuel University. The Tornadoes drop to 3-20 while the Lions move to 7-14 on the season.

The Lions took a commanding 7-2 lead in the opening set to start the match. Talladega chipped away using a 4-2 run to come within three and trail, 9-6.  Emmanuel used an 8-0 run to push its lead to 17-6 and were able to go on to a 25-10 win.

Talladega took a 5-2 lead in set two looking to bounce back and even the match at one. The Lions were able to tie the set at five, but the Tornadoes reclaimed the lead off a 3-0 run to go up, 8-5. Both teams later found themselves tied at nine, but Talladega was able to grab the lead again up, 10-9.  Emmanuel took a 12-10 lead off a 3-0 run, but the Tornadoes retook the lead to go up, 15-12. Once again, the teams were tied but this time at 15, but the Lions were able to grab a 22-18 lead, and that allowed them to go on for the 25-21 win and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Tied at five in the third set, the Lions used a 10-3 run to take a 15-8 lead. Talladega worked its way back into the set but it was not enough as Emmanuel was able to hold its early lead and take the set 25-17 and win the match, 3-0.

Mallik Foreman paced Talladega with eight kills and added four digs. Teammate Elijah Foster tallied 12 assists while finishing with four kills and a .571 hitting percentage.

Ivory Smith finished with seven digs to led the Tornadoes.

Talladega heads to Life University on Saturday when it faces Webber International University and Life for a pair of matches. The first match starts at 2:30 p.m.
