Men's Volleyball Falls at Missouri S&T

ROLLA, Mo. – The Talladega College men's volleyball team fell 3-0 (20-25, 15-25, 12-25) on the road to Missouri S&T tonight. The Tornadoes are now 2-7 while the Miners are 5-5.

Trailing 6-5 in the opening set, the Miners scored the next three points straight to push the lead to 9-5 on Talladega. The Tornadoes were able to stop the short Missouri S&T run to trail, 9-6. The Miners used a 13-7 run to push its lead to 22-13 but Talladega fought back as it cut the lead to 24-20 following a 7-2 run. Missouri S&T then won the set off a service error to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Tied at seven in set two, Missouri S&T used a 10-1 run to take a 17-8 lead. Talladega fought back to get the lead back to single digits. Unfortunately, the Miner lead was too much to overcome as they took the set, 25-15.

Both teams went back and forth in set three to find themselves knotted at five.  The Miners broke the set open as it used a 12-1 to take a 17-6 lead. The Tornadoes worked to get back in the set but the Miners were able to keep them at arm's reach to claim the set 25-12 and win the match, 3-0.

Hugo Marques and Malik Foreman each finished with four kills for Talladega. Marques added a team-leading six digs. Andrea Tognazzo also added six digs to tie Marques.

Teammate Ivory Smith tallied 14 assists and added four digs.

Talladega is back in action tomorrow when it faces Maryville University for two matches with the first one starting at 6:30 p.m.
