Women’s Basketball Outlasts SUNO for HBCUAC Victory

NEW ORLEANS – The Talladega College women's basketball team watched an early lead evaporate just to weather the storm on the way to a 66-53 win over the Southern University in New Orleans Lady Knights Friday afternoon in Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference action.

After a dominant opening quarter, the Tornadoes saw a 22-6 lead slim to a 36-28 advantage at the half. In the third quarter, SUNO battled all the way back to pull head briefly 45-44, but Kiersten Usher splashed a jumper to put Dega ahead 46-45 before heading to the fourth.

Early in the fourth, the Lady Knights took a 47-46 lead thanks to a jumper by Tierra Sylvas. However, Beautiful Curry responded with a jumper of her own for the final lead change of the night and put Talladega up 48-47. The Tornadoes went on to outscore SUNO 20-8 in the final stanza on the way to the 66-53 win.
